Sculpture Trails Outdoor Museum, located in Solsberry, will host their 17th Annual Aluminum Pour on Saturday, July 14 from 10 a.m to 6 p.m. This year, they have added a few elements to make the event even more attractive to families and budding artists of all ages.

Starting at noon and occurring every hour, Sculpture Trails will pour molten aluminum into molds and scratch blocks created by Trails’ guests. A cast metal workshop will be held by Trails artists in the Sculpture Trails Foundry to assist guests in creating their own aluminum relief sculptures.

No experience is necessary for guests to create their own, take-home pieces of art, as Trails staff will be on hand to answer questions and inspire creativity. All ages are welcome to create scratch blocks, but Sculpture Trails does mention that sharpish tools are used. Scratch blocks may be purchased on the day of the event with four options to choose from. A 5 x 7 scratch block is the smallest size, and can be purchased for $20. A medium scratch block is $40 and a large scratch block is $60. Another option is a “doodle bowl,” for $30.

Starting at 12:30 p.m. and continuing every 30 minutes, free guided tours will be available to guests. Guests will be able to enjoy the 139 sculptures currently installed on the trails.

All proceeds will be used to keep Sculpture Trails Outdoor Museum open daily and free to the public.
