Cost of 2018 Thanksgiving dinner down slightly from previous three years

Herald-Times

Turkeys should be on high alert this year, as a continued decline in the cost of Thanksgiving dinner may lead to more families grabbing a gobbler for a meal more often.

The 33rd annual survey from the American Farm Bureau Federation shows the average cost of a classic Thanksgiving dinner for 10 people is $48.90 this year.

At less than $5 per person, this year’s feast is 22 cents less than last year’s average.

The cost of a Thanksgiving feast has declined for the past three years and is now the cheapest it has been since 2010. According to a press release, 166 volunteer shoppers checked prices at grocery stores in 37 states for this year’s survey.
